Satellite software is used to align satellite dishes with geostationary satellites, accessing signals from all over the world. Once you have installed the program and configured the settings to identify your current location, you will be able to target satellite signals in a specified area. So, if you're living in Australia but would like to watch American TV programs, you would set your coordinates from within Australia and then maybe search for a satellite that picks up channels in California. You could be watching daytime soap operas within minutes if all goes well with the setup.

Having seen the difference in quality between a regular TV underground cable connection versus satellite, I would have to choose the clear, vivid projection of a satellite signal. It offers a lot of flexibility as well since you are able to filter out satellite transmissions that don't interest you and keep the ones that are the most entertaining.
