Arrogance

Typical arrogant behavior

Are you controlled by an unhealthy level of arrogance, or do you know somebody who is unbearably arrogant? I don't just mean someone who has the occasional ‘arrogant' moment, but someone who seems to be constantly in a state of arrogance.

An arrogant person might exhibit signs of a superiority complex, claiming to have more knowledge and experience than others. Perhaps he/she appears to know the answers to everything and needs no further explanations in order to figure out things for himself /herself. This arrogant friend, co-worker, or next-door neighbor is probably in the habit of making presumptuous claims or assumptions and makes bold statements that are backed up with fierce defensiveness.

Arrogance as ego personified

The downfalls of arrogance

Anyone who is characteristically arrogant might feel a sort of overinflated pride in their hollow boastings and know-it-all attitude. This will no doubt impede their ability to improve and advance themselves as a human being. In the workplace, an arrogant person will eventually lose the support of his co-workers and invite bitter feelings of resentment instead. He will fail to learn new things and won't be able to interact successfully with the people in his environment due to the stubborn way he holds fast to his arrogance.

In the hopes of getting ahead in the world and keeping your social network intact, it would be best to recognize when and why you're coming across as being arrogant. Once you've identified the triggers that set off your arrogance, it's time to gradually start toning it down and making an effort to drop the pretense of being all knowledgeable. That way, when you are approached with a better method of doing something, or are offered to be taught new things, you'll happily embrace the opportunity to progress in life.

One of the most unattractive character traits of all time, arrogance. I agree with everything you've said. One of the reasons I've left a few jobs is an arrogant attitude of owners or superiors. An arrogant management team drains morale from their workers. Thanks for this hub.

Some people let the "DO" become their "WHO" without ever knowing what they DO.
